Youth Volunteering Opportunity on the Braintree Rec!
Welcome Braintree Air Cadets!
The Braintree Recreation Ground is excited to bring this volunteering opportunity to young people across Braintree which will help them gain proficiencies for life. We want to work with youngsters to teach them valuable skills to pass on to others, increase their green footprint and also help complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award (if enrolled). This is the Braintree Rec's first volunteering opportunity for members of the public and it's currently exclusive to the Braintree Air Cadets on a trial basis.
What does it involve?
We will teach young people how to maintain and water the trees properly giving them the best opportunity to grow. Volunteers will also assist in litter picking, to keep the area clean and safe for users of the recreation ground. All equipment and training will be provided. All you will need is a pair of boots.
What do I gain from this?
We want our young volunteers to have the opportunity to take part in a community project, improving their team working, cooperation and social skills. These attributes will help them throughout all walks of life. This project will also have a positive impact on the environment for those young people conscious of their green footprint. Finally, for those enrolled on the Duke of Edinburgh award, we are able to use this opportunity for all three sections, physical, skills and volunteering if needed.
How often?
There is no time limit, as much or little as you would like. Availability will only be dependent on when there are enough supervising adults on hand to assist. This being said, if you are wanting to complete this for your Duke of Edinburgh Award, then regular commitments will be needed for us to complete your assessors report (minimum of 1 hour per week).
How to get involved?
